Belenergia and RGREEN INVEST sell 40MW wind farm to Iberdrola
- The sale of the Basilicata wind farm (40 MW) reflects the quality of Belenergia's developed assets, which are valued by the largest global operators in the sector.
- The proceeds will be reinvested in the group’s pipeline development.
- Belenergia strengthens its position as a leading developer and promoter in the Italian renewable energy market.
Belenergia and RGREEN INVEST have completed the sale of the Basilicata wind farm (40 MW) to Iberdrola. This transaction is consistent with Belenergia’s strategy to redeploy capital and reinforce its existing and future projects in the region.
The asset —developed in 2013 and engineered, procured and constructed by Belenergia— is operational since 2018 and its sale represents a significant recognition of Belenergia’s technical excellence and team know-how by one of the leaders in renewable energy.
Statement from Jacques Édouard Levy, CEO of Belenergia:
"Basilicata holds a special place in Belenergia's history. Over more than a decade, we have grown to become one of the region's leading players in renewable energy — wind and solar — as well as in the circular economy through biomethane. Selling an asset we developed and nurtured for over ten years is never a simple decision, but it is a natural one: it reflects our commitment to delivering value to our partner RGREEN INVEST, with whom we have built this project on a 50/50 basis. The proceeds will be redeployed into the development of several new wind farms in Southern Italy, reinforcing our long-term commitment to this territory.
I also wish to thank all our teams who designed, built and managed this asset over the years — and who will continue to be present in the region: Belenergia is currently finalising the construction of ~20MW in Melfi and ~20MW in Ferrandina, a tangible proof of our enduring commitment to Basilicata and its energy transition."
The transaction advances the consolidation of Belenergia's project pipeline in Italy, including two new wind projects already authorized, strengthening its position as one of the country's fastest-growing independent developers.
Italy remains a strategic market for renewable energy investment. Belenergia will continue to focus on the country as a growth hub, leveraging its regulatory framework, natural resources, and the growing demand for clean energy driven by the global electrification of the economy and geopolitical factors.
