Biomass plant in Apulia
BelEnergia S.p.A. is pleased to announce that the Balice biomass site, located in San Basilio di Mottola (Taranto, Puglia), is now operating under the name Distilleria Bartin. The facility has obtained the authorization to increase its capacity for accepting and treating agro-food waste from third parties, reaching a potential of approximately 87,000 tonnes per year.
Since 2003, Distilleria Bartin has been working in the heart of Puglia to valorise by-products from winemaking, dairy, olive oil production, and other agro-industries. The site includes anaerobic digesters for organic wastewater, a dryer capable of reducing biomass moisture to 10%, a sansa processing unit, and a cogeneration plant producing about 999 kW electric power, fuelled by internally produced biogas.
The facility spans about 35,000 m², including covered buildings, internal roads, and operational yards.
This increase is a strategic move by BelEnergia to strengthen circular value chains and sustainable management of agro-food waste, while supporting local development and renewable energy production.
